Renji waking up from a bad dream where his girl dies, only to realize she’s been dead for weeks? :p

Why do you hurt me so much, Nonny-Mouse?

“Renji, run.” He feels her fingers tracing his cheeks before she falls backwards, off the top of the skyscraper they’re standing on.

Somehow, she remains alive, sprawled across the pavement, legs at unnatural angles so that she cannot flee. Her voice projects into his head. Touka and Ayato are counting on you.

Arima Kishou strides over, IXA glistening in his hands. Yomo scales down the skyscraper, closer and closer. He’ll be in time to save her. He has to.

She smiles up at Arima. “I feel sorry for you, Reaper.”

Is that a flicker of humanity in Arima’s eyes? How can he see Arima’s eyes from a skyscraper?

She sucks in a deep breath, her last breath. She savors the Tokyo air she’ll never feel again.

And IXA pierces her heart. She exhales for a final time.

With a scream, Yomo bolts upright in bed.

He’s here. Alive.

And she hasn’t been for three weeks.

And it was a small house, not a skyscraper. But somehow, every time he dreams it, he’s farther and farther away from her.

Covered by a blanket of darkness, Yomo bows his head to weep.

Uta and Yomo nightmare headcannons

Yomo

– he often has nightmares where he watches Hikari die, but can’t run fast enough to save her.

– another nightmare is Touka and Ayato rejecting him as their uncle.

– despite his strong words to Touka, Yomo was actually conflicted about not helping Yoshimura. So, shortly after the Anteiku raid, he dreamt Yoshimura appeared and told him he was disappointed in him for not fighting with him.

– sometimes, Yomo appears early in Uta’s shop to dissect his nightmares. Uta’s gotten used to it.

– his most recent nightmare was Touka dying during childbirth. He awoke devastated, and felt even more depressed when he realized he couldn’t go to Uta’s shop for comfort.

Uta

– his biggest nightmare is Yomo and Itori’s rejection. Because then he feels like he’ll be all alone.

– he once dreamt that Yomo was nearly killed by Arima, but he leapt in between and died instead. He awoke very distressed that no one would be around to comfort Yomo after he was gone.

– Sometimes he dreams that the people he’s killed return to carry him to hell. They mock him for being alone. The eyeballs in his jar start to laugh (how do eyeballs laugh? who knows). He’s dragged to a condemnation he knows he deserves.

– He does not tell Yomo about the last nightmare, but he has confessed the others. Yomo’s not nearly as good at giving comfort as Uta, but he has assured him that he’ll never stop being his friend.

I FREAKING LOVE SUZUYA SCENARIOS HELP Please Bless me with a christmas one where all the Suzuya Squad members celebrate together like a real family

❤ ❤ ❤

“Hanbee, can you straighten the star?” asks Keijin. “You’re the only one tall enough.”

Hanbee sighs, but rises from his position on their couch besides Suzuya. He reaches up to adjust the crooked, rainbowed star. “There.”

“Yay!” Suzuya claps his hands. “Is it present time yet?”

“Yes, it’s present time.” Mizurou agrees.

“I’ll play Santa!” Suzuya swipes Mikage’s fuzzy red and white stocking off his head.

“Hey!” cries Mikage, but he’s laughing to show he doesn’t really mind.

“This is for Hanbee.” Suzuya hands his best friend a small box. “From me!”

“And to Mikage, from Keijin.” A large, heavy package nearly topples Mikage.

“And Keijin, from Mizurou.” A tall, heavy box.

“To Mizurou, from Mikage.” A small, light wrapping.

“And to me, from Hanbee!” Suzuya crows, looking at the large box peppered with holes.

“One – two – three – go!”

Wrapping paper flies everywhere as the young men tear into their presents.

Hanbee leaps a mile at the Jack-in-the-box. “Suzuya! You would.”

“An astronomy encyclopedia? This is phenomenal,” gasps Mikage.

Keijin beams at his small falcon statue. “I love it, Mizurou.”

“Good.” Mizurou waves tickets to the next gaming convention. “Mikage, you’re the best.”

“Suzuya?” Keijin leans forward with anticipation.

Suzuya stares down into the box. A squeak emanates from his lips. “Hanbee!”

He bends down to lift out a snowy white kitten with red eyes.

“It’s a Suzuya cat!” offers Hanbee. “Also albino.”

“I love it!” Suzuya shrieks as the cat buries its face in his shoulder. “I love it! It’s so cute! Oh my goodness!”

“What will you name it?” asks Mikage.

“Mischief,” says Suzuya, stroking it with tears in his eyes.

Hsiao and Saiko doing something (idk pick something) and Saiko is being herself and suddenly Hsiao can’t handle all the cute

Aieeee more Saiko/Hsaio!!! (Someone pick a ship name please – Hsaiko, maybe?).

“Hsaio, we have tonight off. Watch anime with me,” begs Saiko.

Hsaio nods, trying to control her excitement. “I’d love to!”

Saiko drags Hsaio into her room and immediately rummages under her mattress. “I’ve hidden all my cookies and candy here. Chips are in the closet so they don’t get crushed.”

Hsaio’s mouth falls open. “You’re a genius.”

“A hungry one.” Saiko tosses an Oreo towards Hsaio. “Catch an Urie Kuki.”

“Delicious.” Hsaio bites into it. “Mmmmm. What anime do you want to watch?”

“Fullmetal Alchemist. You remind me of Long Fan.” Saiko smiles.

“I do?” Hsaio brightens. “You think of me?”

“Of course, silly. You’re my cutest friend.” Saiko readies her computer. She drags a sea of pillows behind her and pats the bed beside her. “Come sit.”

Hsaio leaps into the pile of blankets. “Ooh, so comfortable.”

“I’m comfortable with you!” Saiko teases.

Hsaio claps her hands to her cheeks. “AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! Saiko, you’re so adorable!”

Saiko is a genius, a food hoarder, and thinks of Hsaio as an anime hero. Hsaio loves this cute girl. She tackles her in a hug that Saiko gladly returns before shoving another Oreo in Hsaio’s mouth.

Asa devolving a crush on Uta or Yomo’s s/o?

Some days Asa insists on drawing in Uta’s shop. She claims it inspires her. But ever since Uta started seeing [Name], Asa’s seemed to need inspiration on a daily basis.

“Hey there.” Asa gulps as Uta’s S/O approaches. “What are you drawing?”

Asa stares at the picture. “Art.”

“Can I see?” They giggle, then gasp. “Wait! Is that my face?”

“It’s supposed to be.” Asa is now bright red.

“Oh, do my eyes really look that sharp?” They laugh. “I love it. Asa, you’re so talented!”

“R-really?” Asa gulps.

They nod. “I hope I didn’t disrupt you.”

“Not at all.” Asa needs their approval. She needs it now.

They nod and skip back to Uta. “Uta, guess what Asa’s making!”

Asa cringes, but continues her art. Art, she knows, is all-demanding.

When Asa finishes, Uta’s S/O is upstairs, so only Uta is around. He approaches Asa casually.

“[Name], hmm?” Uta smirks.

Asa nods, unable to speak.

“Remember, they love me,” Uta says quietly. “And I love them.”

Asa’s eyes look ready to pop out of her skull. “I wouldn’t…I don’t feel that way…”

“You do,” Uta cuts in. “And it’s okay. It happens. Remember, no matter what, you’re still part of our family. [Name] really does care about you, too.”

“Really?” Asa claps her hands. Sure, it’s not the way she wants. But still – they think about her – they like her – they like her

Uta peers over to inspect her drawing. “Huh. Actually, that’s really good.”

Ryoichi does some Christmas shopping for Koharu.

Inspired by @koyuki-tan‘s “Peace Sign.”

“What would she like?” Ryoichi whispers to himself.

He stands before a giant department store, tapping his fingers to his chin.

“Your haircut, doofus,” whispers a voice in his ear.

Ryoichi yelps. He spins around to see a smirking Kanae von Rosewald.

“Look, courting a dove is a bad idea, but you’re not the first idiot to try. And since I’m helpless to save the other, I’ll help you, leibling,” says Kanae. She crosses her arms.

“Why are you being so nice?” He narrows his eyes.

“’Tis the season,” Kanae says. “Have you paid attention to her interests at all?”

“A – a little,” Ryoichi stammers.

“Sweet or savory?”

“Uh, sweet?”

“Wrong.” Kanae shakes her head. “What kind of posters does she have in her room?”

“I wouldn’t look at her room!” Ryoichi cries.

Kanae rolls her eyes. “Oh my god. Horses, dummy.”

“Horses?”

“Yes. Buy her something to do with horses.” Kanae nods. “You can’t go wrong.”

“But…” Ryoichi hesitates. “She might still hate me. Because I’m a full ghoul.”

“You never know until you try. Shuu might hate me because I’m a girl. I’m still gonna try.” Kanae shrugs. “Bye.”

And just like that, the Rose vanishes into the crowd.

When Ryoichi returns to Re later that day, he’s beaming with pride.

“Lemme see.” Touka stomps her foot.

Ryoichi reaches into his bag to produce an elaborate crystalline horse.

“Magnificent,” says Yomo in surprise.

“Touka, you should get Ryoichi to be your boyfriend,” says Nishiki.

“Shut up!” Ryoichi and Touka yell at once.

maybe something to do with brooke and carma (from peace sign) bc they’re best girls :’) it could just be brooke dicking around with the squad and dragging carma into her shenanigans???

For context, go check out @koyuki-tan‘s “Peace Sign.”

“Carma, let’s get into some mischief,” says Brooke with a grin.

“Brooke, it’s eleven at night. I want to sleep,” Carma says nervously.

“We’re playing a practical joke on our Squad. Join or become one of the victims,” Brooke says, adopting a deadly serious tone.

Carma has to laugh. “Did you used to try this with your sisters?”

“All the time,” Brooke says, squinting at Carma. “We’re gonna play a game of sock-switching.”

“Sock…switching?”

“The most maddening joke there is. Men have gone insane from mismatched socks. And tonight, Koharu and Marie both did laundry.” Brooke waves her arms around.

“I don’t know…” Carma says.

“Come on.” Brooke tugs Carma downstairs to the laundry machine. “Mix up the pairs. We can do this.”

“Brooke, this is pure evil.”

“Pure awesomeness, you mean.” Brooke lifts up one of Marie’s fuzzy socks and Koharu’s neon ones. “What a lovely couple, these two.”

Carma giggles. She could match some of the neon and floral patterns…they’d almost go together.

Brooke wants use this opportunity to demand more information on Carma’s Masaya, but she’d rather get to know her friend better. After all, they’re rarely alone together.

“What’s your favorite ice cream?” She asks instead.

Carma laughs. “Rose petal.”

“Why am I surprised. It’s chocolate for me. The more elaborate – chocolate fudge with brownie chunks and chips – the better.” Brooke grins as she throws a pair of one striped and one floral sock into Koharu’s basket. “They’re gonna kill us tomorrow.”

“is this what large families do?” Carma asks with a giggle.

“The best ones do.” Brooke winks, and Carma feels a rush of freedom. She’s in this family alongside zany Brooke. And by some miracle, they both belong.

Some Christmas fluff with Rio and his brother (before his bro was killed so basically any time when Rio was under 15)

“Rio. Wake up, Rio.”

Rio moans and pulls his blankets over his head. It’s cold and he was dreaming that he went to school and people liked him. “Go away.”

“It’s Christmas, silly,” says his brother, shaking him again.

“Ooh!” Rio bolts upright. “Merry Christmas!”

“Merry Christmas to you, too!” His brother laughs and holds out a baby pine tree in a cup. A lightbulb is taped to the top, and a small box is wrapped to its stump.

“Eeeee! I love it! A tree!” Rio claps his hands.

“And a present, kid.” His brother shoves Rio’s shoulder lightly.

Rio giggles as he unwraps the pink paper. “Dear Kafka! Really?”

“I saw you looking at it in the bookstore,” says his brother with a laugh.

“Well, this is awkward – hold on!” Rio rummages under their mattress to hold out a wrinkled mass of tissue paper. “Here’s yours!”

His brother takes the lump with a grin. “Egg of the Black Goat, huh? Well, great minds think alike!”

“You can read mine when I’m done,” Rio says.

“Same, of course.” His brother reaches over to embrace him. “Merry Christmas, Rio.”
