Carma and Karren need to open a flower shop together.

Yessss. Based on @koyuki-tan‘s “Peace Sign.”

– They are both needed to restrain Shuu from offering too many suggestions. So is Masaya.

– They often bring home flowers to their respective baes.

–  Since they both hair pink-tinged hair (though Karren’s has more purple in it), they often exchange outfits to go with each other’s look.

– Shuu and Masaya have nicknamed them the Pink Flower Duo. PFD for short.

– Their shop supplies flowers for the weddings of amen of their respective CCG and Goat colleagues. 😉

In honor of National Trans Day of Visiblity / International Transgender Day of Visibility, any gender identity headcanons for the TG cast?

– I get the reasoning for saying Mutsuki isn’t trans – apparently he’s still using female pronouns now? – but I really hope he is.

– I believe Nico is canonically trans, but for anyone who doubts this, I will insist that she is a woman until I die. And she probably had a really hard time before the clowns, being both a ghoul and trans, until the clowns welcomed her as she was.

– Karren questioned her gender a lot, and while she eventually decided she was female, she gives a giant middle finger to gender stereotypes and probably wouldn’t return to women’s clothing anytime soon.

– Suzuya is a man. He knows this, and he still doesn’t give a shit about wearing dresses and makeup at times. Because fuck gender roles – they’re nonsense. He eventually gets his entire squad to wear dresses on days off. It’s great.

– While Uta is cisgender, he has totally explored drag.

– Tanakamaru Mougan. What if Mougan is a tragically closeted transgender female? Whose emphasis on manliness and muscle is just a facade? And Aura Kiyoko is the only one who knows…and they’re secretly in love…but they hide it because CCG would disapprove of literally everything…

[your favorite ghoul character] finding telling a human they’re a ghoul and them not being 100% accepting. You always write humans who like ghouls plus I want to know your favorite character :3

Welllllllll I have five favorites! Since Suzuya Juuzou is a human, we’ll discount him, and also Mutsuki Tooru, since his status as a Quinx is widely known. That leaves…

1. Yomo Renji

“I’m…a ghoul.”

You catch your breath. Of all the things for this beautiful strong man to tell you, for all your reassurances, for the night you just spent in his apartment, you feel betrayed.

“So…you eat people. People like me.” You try to remain calm.

“These days I eat suicide victims rather than kill.” He closes his eyes. “That wasn’t always the case.”

“And the families? Who will never find their loved one’s body?” You gulp. You love Renji, yes, but this is horrifying.

“I can’t atone for that,” he says simply.

“How can you accept this?” You hiss. “Find a better way. You’ve taken one step by not killing. Now take more. There are morgues and donors who would help.”

“And get CCG to kill me?” he challenges. His voice trembles with anger. Anger at himself, because he wouldn’t entirely be undeserving of arrest.

You dissolve into tears. “I’m sorry, Renji, it’s just so much to take in. I’m not breaking up – I just need to think about this some more.” You try to smile. “I don’t know what I want. I want to right the wrongs of the world, but I don’t know how to do that with or without you.”

2. Karren Von Rosewald

“You participated in that auction? You harbored human traffickers? Ghouls who keep slaves?”  You glare at your girlfriend across the table on the Tsukiyama family porch.

You turn your gaze to the roses she just gave you. “Karren. That breaks my heart.”

Karren frowns. “You’re not mad that I eat people?”

“You don’t have a choice about eating people, though I’m sure there’s better ways than murder. I can handle that. But this – the debauchery you’ve encouraged – this hurts, Karren.” You let out a sob. “This isn’t about ghouls versus humans; I dont’t care about that. I care how you choose to live as a ghoul, and – and you’re better than this.”

“I’m sorry, [Name].” She leans across the table to take your hand. Tears shine in her own eyes. “I never wanted to hurt you.”

“I know, but that only helps so much.” You wipe your eyes, and she hands you a handkerchief.

“I can let you think it over. If you don’t want to see me again…I understand.” Karren lowers her head.

“I don’t know. But I can say I’ll never turn you in,” you whisper.

And that’s the hope that Karren will cling do. Her eyes light up, and you feel your stomach stir with longing for this ghoul.

3. Furuta Nimura

“If this is a joke, this isn’t funny.” Your heart races, but no, his toothy kagune slides out from his back.

“I was born like this. I just had surgery to make it official, right?” He smirks. Furuta’s trying to play calm in his office, but one wrong word could send a swarm of investigators over to disrupt his plan.

He could always kill you if you got in the way. But Furuta isn’t sure he can, and that frightens him.

You stretch out a hand to touch his rinkaku. It is magnificent, you muse.

“[Name]-chan.” He grabs your arm. His eyes are desperate, vulnerable in a way that Furuta would never appear to anyone except you.

“Did you ever want to eat me?” you ask dully.

“It’s why I got close to you,” he says. “You smell delicious. But I’m not dumb enough to eat another CG agent. And then…I couldn’t for other reasons.”

The words I love you hang in the air.

You’re reeling. You know Furuta does love you, in his Fruity way. He’d never expose his deepest secrets otherwise. And yet…and yet you’ve been raised your entire life to hate him.

“May I have time?” You ask.

He nods. He hates feeling helpless. You could turn him in, and he won’t kill you. Fuck, Nico was right – he does have it bad.

Furuta isn’t sure he can handle being rejected again. As soon as you leave his office, he presses his kagune against his mouth to suppress his screams.

The adventures of my odd brotps: Mutsutou, Haikarren, Mutsuhina, and Ayaurie.

Mutsutou

– Once Mutsuki and Touka reconciled, he first began to appreciate her as a mother figure before as a friend.

– Mutsuki apologized to Yomo, and Touka overheard. She then invited Mutsuki for a cup of coffee and entertained him with stories of Ken at Anteiku, and her wild past. That’s how they became besties.

– One night, Kaneki and Urie came home from a meeting to discover Touka and Mutsuki giggling over an empty bottle of blood wine (which does not hurt ghoul babies). They became alarmed before Touka opened her mouth and began to spill all the embarrassing Sasaki stories Mutsuki had told her. The two couples stayed up all night talking.

– Mutsuki accompanies Touka to any doctor appointments Kaneki can’t make, which is also how he became close to Hinami.

Haikarren

– Once, Karren and Hairu got wigs to look like each other’s hair. Tsukiyama and Ui were very confused and scared.

– Hairu took Karren out shopping for lingerie Shuu would like. It was fun for her, too, because Karren is very generous with the Tsukiyama’s money. Hairu bought plenty of outfits to make Ui faint.  She immediately texted a picture of him on the floor to Karren.

– Tsukiyama, of course, will not let Ui forget that.

– They both work for the Human-Ghoul alliance, and they make a devilish pair – hyper Hairu, dramatic Karren. No one is ever bored, not even the ghouls or humans arrested by them.

– Matsumae got to know Hairu through her friendship with Karren. She then forgave Hairu and once threatened Ui that if he hurt Hairu, she’d break the law to eat him.

– Karren had Hairu as her Maid of Honor, and vice versa.

Mutsuhina

– Hinami began the friendship. She held Mutsuki as he cried about his parents, and she gave him encouragement that there are good parents out there, too.

– Mucchy loves hearing stories about Hinami’s parents. Good parents are fairy tales to him.

– Hinami insisted on doing Mutsuki’s makeup for a double date with Urie and Ayato. Subtle, masculine makeup. Mutsuki was pleased. Urie was very flustered.

– They often high-five with their kagunes. Once Mutsuki even used his bikaku to copy Hinami’s kagune. She was flattered.

Ayaurie

– they are like two shaken soda bottles of chaos and salt.

– most conversations end with them yelling. Not due to fighting, just their personalities and PASSION.

– Their friendly greetings for each other include “Dumbass” and “imbecile.”

– Mutsuhinatou have had to shut them down more than once. Once by calling Kaneki, who threatened to break 206 bones between the two of them. But the second time…

– They invoked Saiko’s method. And forewarned the bois. But when Ayato and Urie responded with eagerness for boob attacks, it was not Mutsuki and Hinami who began to slowly pull up their shirts.

– The bois then began screaming for a different reason.

“You’re coming with me, wench!” cries Kanou, dragging a resurrected Kanae along with him. “V has need of you.”

“Kanou, stop!” Mirumo jumps in front of them, kagune drawn.

Kanou merely laughs. “Why Mirumo, how are you?”

“Let her go!” She’s his niece, and Mirumo isn’t abandoning her again.

“Sorry, but I can’t do that. We made a deal. She got to see your son again, and we got to keep her as our test subject.” Kanou licks his lips.

“Mirumo, I’m sorry – I -” Kanae struggles against the cloaked V agents that swarm her. “I had to see Shuu!”

Mirumo stabs are Kanou, but the doctor’s laughter grows malevolent.

“See this medicine?” He holds up a vial. “If I don’t give it to her, she’s dead. She’s going to do as I say, forever.”

Mirumo starts.

“However, I can always be persuaded to bargain.” Kanou grins. The origins of the Tsukiyama strength? He wants it, because with the father will surely come the son. “A better exchange, if you will.”

Kanae shakes her head. She knows what it’s like to lose a father – this cannot happen to Shuu.

—————————————————

“Where are you going?” Kaneki cries.

“I already lost her once! I’m not losing her again!” Tsukiyama Shuu runs towards V’s headquarters.

————————————————————-

“You give her the medicine right now. Then you’ll have your deal,” Mirumo whispers.

“No!” Kanae screams. He doesn’t need to prove he loves her. She always saw him as family. But Kanou has already thrown the medicine at her, and V swarms Mirumo.

“You – you monster!” Kanae uppercuts Kanou. Blood spurts from his nose, but he only seems more pleased.

And then he takes a bite of Mirumo’s shoulder. The elderly Tsukiyama moans on his knees as a bloody-mouthed Kanou laughs and laughs.

Kanou begins to transform. He grows larger and larger, at least three times the size of the one-eyed Owl kakuja.

Kanae barely dodges his swipe. And then Kanou yells –

Tsukiyama is atop him, stabbing his kakuja through the back.

“Shuu, look out!” Kanae shrieks from beneath Kanou’s arm.

Spikes shoot out of the kakuja, and Tsukiyama tumbles to the gravel, into the arms of V’s agents.

“Get away!” Kirishima Touka shoots Rc bullets and Kaneki Ken uses his rinkaku to impale the scattered agents.

“Oh. That’s it.” Kanou’s eyes darken, and he turns back to Kanae. Hideous tentacles pin her to the ground. “You’ve caused too much trouble this time, missy.”

He stabs her over and over. Kanae can feel herself weakening from blood loss – GOAT won’t be able to fight through V enough to reach her.

“So much for true love!” Kanou exults, and it’s then that Kanae sees Master Shuu lunging straight for Kanou’s head.

“Ahhhhhhhh!” Kanou bellows as Tsukiyama’s well-aimed koukaku pierces his head.

As Kanou sinks to the ground, agents of V fall back. Their grotesque, experimented faces begin to normalize. They look human again, ever so gradually. They drop their grip on Mirumo.

“Shuu!” Kanae frees herself and grabs him.

“Karren.” He whispers that special name, tears in his eyes as he hugs her. Then he turns to embrace his approaching father. “Dad.”

“She really does love you, son.” Mirumo nods. “And I love her like a daughter already.”

“A daughter-in-law, I hope,” Tsukiyama huffs. He draws Kanae to his lips, and she knows herself the happiest woman in the world.

Tsukiyama confronts Kaneki over what happened during the Rose arc.

“What’s wrong?” In the tunnels under the 24th ward, Kaneki knows Tsukiyama is not happy with his pacifism. He also knows Tsukiyama may not be pleased about his recent marriage. He’s prepared for many accusations.

But not this one.

“I can’t sleep,” Tsukiyama admits. Dark circles ring his eyes. “I keep thinking about Karren.”

Karren, Kanae von Rosewald, the ghoul Kaneki killed.

Sort of. He was trying to kill Tsukiyama. That doesn’t really make it better.

“I’m sorry.”

“Why?” Tsukiyama glares at him. For once, he needs to say it. “Why did you insist on killing me, when you remembered me? Why did you kill her – she deserved so much more –”

“I don’t – I don’t know,” Kaneki says lamely. “Because it was my job, I think. And not all my memories of you are pleasant.”

Tsukiyama cries. “So I killed her.”

“No!” Kaneki gasps. He hates what he’s done. Sometimes he wants to die for it. “I did! It’s my fault. I’m in the wrong. Geez, how many ways can I say it? I didn’t – I really thought she needed to die.”

“I needed to before her!” Tsukiyama wipes his eyes. Sometimes he wants to voyage back in time and save her at his own expense. “I don’t deserve her. I never did.”

“I don’t serve Touka. Touka thinks she doesn’t deserve me. You should see how most people view their worth.” Kaneki takes a deep breath. Shame, shame, he deserves an avalanche of shame. “But you didn’t deserve to be hunted down like an animal, especially when you were suffering so much – and yes, Shuu, you were.”

Tsukiyama rests his chin in his hands. “What do I do now? I can’t get her back.”

“You live your life, the life she died making sure you could live.” Kaneki swallows. “And I could sure use some advice on moving forward, same as you. Maybe we can learn together?”

Tsukiyama reaches for Kaneki’s hand. “In the name of Karren.”

“In the name of Touka.”

“I’m guessing Yomo’s a good place to start?”
