Maybe can we have Masanori, Miki, auntie Koharu, and some of the others throw a surprise party for Uihai day?

UIHAI DAY: The official middle day between Hairu and Ui’s birthdays!

Based on characters from @koyuki-tan‘s Peace Sign and ScapeGOAT.

“What are you giggling about?” Hairu teases, watching her pink-haired child snicker and slowly curl his fingers, gesturing for her to approach. He leans out of :Re, swinging on the door.

“You’ll see. You too, Daddy.” Masanori grins at Ui.

Hairu and Ui exchange glances as they approach the coffee shop.

“SURPRISE!” Masanori screams, along with Koharu, Ryohei, The Quinx and Beta Quinx, Touka and Kaneki and GOAT and TSC.

The shop is crammed full, but a banner swings from the ceiling.

Happy National UiHai Day!

Hairu squeals and jumps up and down. Ui ducks his face, red with embarrassment.

“You planned this?” he asks his son.

“With help,” Masanori says shyly, gesturing to Miki and Auntie Koharu.

“Thank you so much!” Hairu tackles her children in a hug.

“We baked special melon pan,” Koharu assures them. “Or, rather, Touka did.”

“Hurrah!” Hairu claps her hands, trembling with delight. No one ever celebrated her brithday in the Garden. Now she has a family and friends, and they’re celebrating her birthday along with her husband’s!

Ui wraps his arms around his wife. “For you, I’ll deal with Uihai day,” he mumbles in her ear.

Ok since my curiosity got to the better of me, Can I ask for the extension of Maya and Hajime’s babysitting mishap? (Like the parents reaction etc.) Erica probably wasn’t too happy with either of them for nearly loosing her niece, so maybe the GOAT kids could come into play to try to help Hajime and Mayazumi win her over again! >u<

UiHai

– Ui is aghast. He is appalled. Both by Masanori’s cheery disregard for rules and the possible dangers his kid faced!

– Hairu, since she used to dream of sneaking out of the garden, is more sympathetic. She tries to relate to Masanori while encouraging him to never do that again.

– It almost works. But Masanori is too smart for his own good; he begins to piece together similarities between his Mommy’s upbringing and Ryuu’s. So…more sneaking out is required.

Ui Koharu/Takeo Ryohei

– Ryohei is just relieved that Shouhei is okay. To be honest, his attempts to be stern fall apart.

– Koharu finishes the talk, however. She’s angry but controlled, and quite nuanced. She makes it clear that both the babysitters and the kids are at fault.

– Ryohei is impressed at his wife and just a tad desperate to kiss her when they finish talking with Shouhei.

– Shouhei is a bit nervous to follow Masanori’s mischief now. Until Masanori persuades him again.

Mizurou Tamaki/Ayase Michiko

– Mizurou can’t stop laughing. It’s a problem exacerbated by the rest of Suzuya Squad loving all the photos of Hajime and Mayazumi with painted faces.

– Michiko may be the only one who does not dismiss the idea of Ryuu as an imaginary friend. This concerns her.

Akita Erica

– Is not going to let Hajime and Mayazumi forget anytime soon. They will buy her dinner in penance, but still.

– She threatens to lose them in battle as revenge.

– Will definitely ensure EVERYONE sees footage of their face paint.

– She may offer Mayazumi forgiveness and a hug later, though, if he seems distressed enough. Maybe this will…alllow them to talk about feelings. Or mutually understand without talking, because that’s totally how it works rightttttt.

Akita Brooke/Touma Higemaru

– Higemaru gently suggests that Brooke take a walk first to cool off.

– Higemaru first speaks to Nagisa, explaining the issue in ways tht Nagisa and understand. He then encourages Nagisa to apologize to Hajime and Mayazumi, which Nagisa does.

– Brooke returns and waits as Higemaru explains to Hajime and Mayazumi how to “avoid losing the kids you’re babysitting.” Just…tapping….her…foot. Her mama glare is enough to scare the two into seriousness.

– Nagisa then apologize to Brooke, too, for worrying her, and Brooke and Higemaru both tear up.

So this has been on my mind lately, How would the Ui parents react when meeting both Hairu and Ryoichi for the first time?

Ryoichi is from @koyuki-tan‘s “Peace Sign.”

Hairu

– I think she’d win them over with her cheerful disposition.

– they might think she’s good for the reserved Ui.

– However, I’m not sure how they’d feel about her heritage. They might get over it, as long as it is emphasized that Hairu is mostly human and does not eat people.

Ryoichi

– poor boy is gonna have a harder time. They’ll be thrilled with him at first, because Koharu clearly loves him and he treats her well.

– But when they realize he’s a full ghoul, their fears start. Mostly for Koharu.

– It might take an Uihai intervention in which they explain that they accept Ryoichi before the parents begin to settle down.

Koharu and Ryoichi should have a son named isamu. Maybe Masanori’s reaction to having a cousin?

– He is ecstatic for a cousin.

– If, however, Isamu gets more attention than him, Masanori might feel a little insecure and need reassurance from h s parents.

– He loves playing with baby Isamu. Mostly this involves “drawing” on Isamu’s face.

– Eventually, he likes Isamu so much he asks his parents to adopt him AND give him another baby sibling. This causes existential crises for both Uihai and Koharyo.

– They’re eventually known as the devil twins who will give their loving parents headaches with mischief, but they wouldn’t trade them for anything. ❤

Maybe some fluff/angst when Koharu learns she is carrying a half ghoul child? Ui and Ryo’s reaction?

Ryo

– inwardly: oh my god, what have we done? I’m going to be a terrible father. *sits down to ponder*

– outwardly: gets up, and acts supportive and very snuggly of his pregnant lover. Arms wrapped around her stomach, poking it and whispering hello to his child.

– ask her what he can do – does she need him to pick up vitamins? a massage? flowers? is she craving anything? omg is she throwing up he’s heard people throw up wait will it have red hair or black hair he hopes it’s a redhead but that sound selfish koharu are you okay omg omg omg

– That night, tells Koharu there’s nothing that makes him happier than starting a family with her.

– MURDER

– Ethics? What Ethics? MURDER IS ETHICS.

– Hairu: You do know you got me pregnant before we were married, right? Hypocrite.

– Ui: yes but you’re only part ghoul and he’s full ghoul and – seeing Hairu’s face darken – let’s be real I feel different because I don’t want to picture my sister having sex.

– Once he sees the sonogram, he becomes Very Soft. He’s going to be the greatest uncle around, and Hairu has already roped him into helping her plan to be the Best Crazy Aunt (Brooke is her nearest competition, of course).

Ryo planning to propose to Koharu but Ui and Hairu accidentally interrupt.

Ryo draws Koharu closer as they stumble off the merry-go-round.

“Even ghouls get dizzy,” he jokes.

“Apparently.” Koharu smiles at him, and his palms begin to sweat. Because there’s a ring in the back of his pocket.

He pulls her beside the ride. Gaggles of children race by, followed by their beleaguered parents.

He wants that. He wants to be those parents. With Koharu.

“I, uh, Koharu,” he fumbles.

“What’s wrong, Ryo?” Koharu eyes him.

“Koharu! Ui won’t go on the teacups with me!” Hairu races up towards them. The cute woman Ryo wants for a sister-in-law.

And the brother-in-law follows her, shakings head. “I’ll throw up.”

“Us Uis aren’t made for spinning rides,” Koharu says with a grin. “But, Ui, you’ll get to slide into Hairu.”

“Do’t you want to slide into me?” Hairu pleads.

“I mean, I do, but I also don’t want to vomit on you,” Ui exclaims.

“Pleeeeeease,” Hairu begs.

Ui’s shoulders slump. “Fine.”

His eyes narrow at Ryo’s hand, which is in his back pocket. “You look nervous, Ryo.”

“I’m fine.”

“Are you really going to send us away?” Ui threatens.

“Fuck off!”

“No!”

“What’s going on?” Hairu asks, puzzled.

Koharu gasps. “Ryo, you’re not -”

“Pretty sure he is!” Hairu claps her hands.

Ryo’s face is now scarlet as he drops to his knees. This is totally not what he expected, but with this family, unexpected seems the norm. “Ui Koharu, will you marry me?”

“Yes,” Koharu whispers before he even finishes his question.

I could use some humorous Hairu and Koharu friendship scenarios.

– Hairu re-introduced Koharu to melon pan. Koharu liked it, but didn’t often favor it before Hairu. But Hairu’s constant gushing about melon pan has made Koharu crave it.

– Koharu definitely searched their parents’ house for Ui’s most embarrassing childhood photos. She promptly handed them to Hairu.

– Hairu has nicknamed Ryoichi “FBIL,” short for “future-brother-in-law.”

– Hairu insists on sometimes helping Koharu pick out date-night outfits. Koharu returns the favor whenever she and Ryoichi babysit Masanori.

– Koharu has educated Hairu on every Disney movie ever made “for Masanori’s sake.” Hairu’s favorite is Sleeping Beauty; Koharu’s is The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

– They have occasionally gone, er, lingerie shopping together. It’s a tad awkward for Koharu (because, her brother), but she handles it well.

– They sometimes have more fun playing with Masanori’s toys than Masanori.

ryoichi meets ui for the first time and ui is protective over his sister

Ui glowers at this redheaded ghoul whose arm is casually draped around his sister. “Who are you?”

“Ryoichi.”

“Do you have another name?” Ui winces. Wait. Not all ghouls do. He didn’t mean to be a complete asshole, just a mild one.

“Ryoichi Takeo,” Koharu says, smiling at her boyfriend. He brushes his lips against her forehead, and Ui growls.

“Koharu!” Hairu bounds outside, baby Masanori on her hip, waving them both in. “Welcome!”

“Thanks!” Koharu scampers towards her nephew.

“Just a second,” Ui whispers in Ryiochi’s ear.

“Yeah?” Ryoichi grins. He can tell he’s pissing this brother off, but since all of Koharu’s stories involve her pissing him off, he’s honestly not sure how else to interact with Brother-Stick-In-The-Mud.

“If you – if you try to eat her – I – I will make sure you die slowly and painfully. I’ll eat you,” Ui seethes.

Ryoichi’s eyes widen. Just slightly.

“Ui, I swear to God, if you actually said that eating line,” Hairu breaks in. “I’ll…I’ll take up smoking.”

Ui whimpers. “But I gave up cigarettes.”

“I didn’t,” Hairu says sweetly. “Shall I test your resolve?”

“No,” he says quickly. “Fine, fine, any wild friend of my sister’s is welcome.”

“We’re more than friends,” Koharu says. Ryoichi’s face turns as red as his hair.

Good, Ui thinks with another obligatory glare.

koharu should request Ryoichi to cut his hair after visioning him as Ui. Ryo only cuts it a little bit though.

“Ryo, you look like you have my brother’s hair. Do you understand how disturbing that is?” Koharu is only half-teasing. “I don’t wanna picture Ui if you ever kiss me.”

“What?!” Ryo screeches. He’s been working up his nerve all night. That’s why he suggested they go on this long walk, away from seeing anyone they know who could make fun of him.

Ryo scowls. “Are you sure?”

Koharu narrows her eyes. “Oh, you’re saying you were gonna kiss me now?”

Now desperate, Ryo plants his lips against hers. Koharu gasps against his mouth, but pushes back with her own lips. Their arms wrap around each other.

When Ryo pulls away, he’s panting. “Not like Ui after all, am I right?”

“Fine,” Koharu concedes, pulling him in for another kiss.

The next day, she finds Ryo in :Re, his hair half an inch shorter than it was.

“You are freaking adorable,” she gasps. “You troll.”

“I’m not a troll, I’m a ghoul,” he protests as Koharu kisses him again.

“Hey kids, want to hear about the time Daddy was trying to cook for Mommy?” Koharu smiles and smoothes her hair.

“Yesssss.” Masanori rubs his hands together. Miki bounces up and down.

“Well, he wanted to make er a birthday surprise. What actually happened was he tried to make melon buns.” Koharu leans forward. “But Mommy got off work early that day. She entered the door and – whoosh! – he was so surprised he spilt the sticky mix right on her.”

She’d then come in to find them taking a shower together, but the kids didn’t need to know that part.

“When he was reaaaaaally young, like your age, Miki, he also tried to cook. He wanted to make ramen for me and him.” Koharu smirks. “But we didn’t have noodles. So I took worms and old him they were noodles, and he served it to our whole family.”

Masanori giggles. “Then what happened?”

“He was the only one who’d taken a bite. Of broth, not even the worms. But he cried, vomited, and ran around screaming for the rest of the night. Oh, I’ve never seen him cry so much or so hard.” Koharu nods as she hears a cough from behind her.

“Why would you tel that story? It’s disgusting!” Ui is properly horrified.

Hairu doubles over with laughter. “Ui, you ate worms?”

“I trusted her!” Ui points desperately at Koharu. His face burns.

“Don’t kiss me tonight,” Hairu says with a wink.
