Ooooh I’m glad you like Hoshi!
“Yomo, I’m fine,” Hoshi protests as he drags her into Anteiku.
“You can’t eat anything. I don’t think you’re fine.” Yomo scowls.
“Mr. Yoshimura, can you tell Yomo he’s being overprotective?” Hoshi whines, stomping her foot.
Yoshimura smiles. “What is the matter?”
“She doesn’t seem able to eat. I’ve never known a ghoul to vomit up human food and -” Yomo inhales sharply as Hoshi stumbles to a seat.
“Sorry, I was just lightheaded.”
Yoshimura furrows his brow. “Yomo, Hoshi: I realize this is a delicate subject but…do you think you may be pregnant?”
Hoshi pales, but Yomo’s face turns cherry red.
Hoshi, however, is already texting Itori. Yoshimura has said everything she suspected but was trying to – foolishly, she admits – ignore. “She’ll buy us a test.”
Yomo shakes. He can’t. Not Hoshi. A kid. “If – if you are – it’s too dangerous.”
Hoshi narrows her eyes. “I know I’m not exactly mother material, but I’m willing to learn if you are. My life is already dangerous. I think we deserve happiness, too.” Her voice falters. “Would that make you happy?”
“It’s make me scared.”
“But happy?” she presses.
Yomo meets her eyes and nods. Hoshi’s face melts.
“That,” says Yoshimura, “is all you can ask for.”
When Itori shows up, Uta naturally tags along. “I can’t believe that, of the three of us, you’re the one with an unplanned pregnancy.”
“We don’t know yet!” Hoshi shouts, grabbing the package and stomping to the restroom.
When she emerges, sweat glistens on her forehead. She nods.
Itori cheers and Uta yells “Congratulations!” Mr. Yoshimura smiles.
Yomo lifts up the tiny ghoul he loves and embraces her.
“I’m scared, too,” she whispers in his ear.
“We’ll make it work,” he replies, setting her down on the ground and giving her that tender smile she loves.
