Higetori first smooch.

Higemaru Touma wipes his sweating palms on his pants. His nice dress pants. The ones Urie leant him for his date. Well, he only leant them after Saiko threatened him, but still.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Yumitsu Tomoe, the infamous Hakatori, protege of the Bin brothers, points out a white and red tulip waving in the moonlit breeze. It kinda looks like it’s been splattered with blood.

Higemaru nods. “Looks bloody.”

“Ha!” She throws back her head. “And I thought I was the ghoul, Higemaru.”

He smirks at her. “Call me Touma.”

Hakatori raises her eyebrows. “I’d love to.”

“Hakatori – ” He loves her nickname, loves it like he loves her, and now he’s leaning towards her.

Her breath catches as he hesitates just centimeters from her lips.

So she brushes hers against his, gently, as if he were a flower.

He gasps slightly before kissing her with a ferocity befitting a ghoul. Hakatori drags him closer. “I’m glad you finally kissed me.”

Valentine’s Day headcanons for the following couples: Touken, Ayahina, Akiramon, Seiaki, Takirona, Mutsurie, Shiraiko, Saiko/Hsiao, Suzuhan, Fururize, Nishikimi, Tsukikana, Higetori, Uihai, Nakimiza, Arieto, Utaren. Bless you.

Touken

– Touka tackles Kaneki and drags him back to bed in the morning. 😉

– Kaneki buys her a ghoul-friendly cake. Three tiers, like a wedding cake.

– Touka has bought him a first edition of his Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis.

– Kaneki tacles Touka and takes her back for an early night. 😉

Ayahina

– Ayato forgot it was Valentine’s Day. After cursing himself out, he races to buy her a card before she wakes up.

– She knew he forgot, but it’s okay. She has her own surprise for him.

– Ayato returns, having hastily scribbled his devout love in her card.

– Hinami has bought Ayato a parakeet. Ayato practically cries in happiness.

Akiramon

– Amon is as smooth as Touka’s coffee. Flowers, chocolate, Maris Stella to pat as soon as Akira awakens.

– Akira is ready to counter him with ghoul-suited food for him, sweetened with as much sugar as a ghoul can tolerate.*

– Takes Akira out to a spicy curry shop for dinner.

*Given that Kaneki originally ate sugar cubes with blood, I’m guessing ghouls can tolerate some sugar, and Akira is ON it.

Seiaki

– Takizawa is terrified that he hasn’t bought her enough chocolate.

– His heart-shaped box is half the size of Akira.

– Akira laughs and tells him thank you, before revealing they have plans to spend the day in a dog and cat cafe.

Takirona

– Takizawa is a bit shy, but he’s bought Kurona flowers and Touka’s magnificent coffee.

– She kisses him and tells him he’s more than enough to make her happy.

– They spend their night in, watching Netflix and cuddling and talking about feelings.

Mutsurie

– Urie sweeps Mutsuki off his feet immediately.

– He’s pleased when Mutsuki promptly knocks his feet out from under him.

– They’re discovered making out in the halls outside their room.

Shiraiko

– Shirazu is stunned to wake up to Saiko serving him breakfast in bed.

– When he asks her how she woke up in time, she cheerfully says she didn’t go to sleep, because he is that important to her.

– She of course then snuggles with him, cuddling and eating the feast she’s prepared (with Kaneki’s cooking help).

Hsaiko

– Hsaio cosplays as Saiko’s favorite manga character to wake her up.

– Saiko insists that both can be late for work. … Not for sleep. 😉

– Saiko runs around bragging about her sexy girlfriend, and consults Hairu for how marriage is best sprung to a garden ghoul.

Suzuhan

– Hanbee takes Suzuya out for ice cream.

– Suzuya takes Hanbee to the latest Disney movie. He likes it, too. By the end, Hanbee is sobbing into Suzuya’s arms.

– At home, Hanbee discovers flowers decorating his room.

Fururize

– Furuta is awakened by Rize love-biting him

– He will take her to an all-you-can-eat restaurant suitable for ghouls, and think himself the luckiest man alive every time she steals a glance.

– Rize: “Are you feeding me so I have the energy to dominate you tonight?”

– Furuta: *mews*

Nishikimi

– Nishiki: “Since you were okay with putting a bangle around my wrist, what if I put a ring around your finger?”

– Kimi: *eyes wide* “Nishiki-kun!”

– Nishiki: “I mean, I don’t have it yet. But I figured I’d ask. For future reference.”

– Kimi: “Now I’m half tempted to make you put it around my middle finger.”

Tsukikana

– Tsukiyama awakens Karren by sprinkling diamonds and gold dust on her.

– Karren has collaborated with Chie to get the best, most exotic food for Shuu..

– They dance the night away, until Karren suggests another form of dance. 😉

Higetori

– Higemaru’s a bit concerned Hakatori will find it dumb, but he would totally propose on Valentine’s Day.

– She says yes, then chastises him for giving her a present she can’t top.

– Her present, however, involves a concert and “Higemaru appreciation day,” in which she’s convinced all the Aogiri kids to make him cards.

Uihai

– Can you say PREPARED. Ui’s been planning their dinner at the best restaurant in town for months. He buys Hairu a gargantuan chocolate heart, which she promptly breaks in two for him.

– Hairu gives him tickets for a play Ui’s been dying to see, for the next weekend.

– Hairu suggests snuggles after they walk home.

Nakimiza

– Once Naki heard about this tradition of celebrating love, he ran around consulting ways to celebrate Miza.

– He throws confetti (supplied by Tsukiyama) on her, and she kisses him.

– “You know, you could have just wished me a happy Valentine’s Day and that would be enough,” says she. He then cries about how it wouldn’t be enough for Miza.

Arieto

– Let’s see, how can Eto troll the Reaper?

– bribes access to CCG for herself, then appears in Arima’s office yelling “boo!”

– Arima’s office door closes for the next few hours.

Utaren

– Uta is determined to embarrass Yomo.

– He buys him a ridiculously sized box of chocolates neither can eat, and a new coat

– To his surprise, Yomo has also bought him paint for masks. But Uta’s real treat is how flustered and flushed Yomo is.

A scenario where Hige feels guilty that she’s still 16-17 and he’s almost 20

“Heard you have a birthday in a few months.” Hakatori grins across the booth. Her fingers latch onto her coffee.

“Finally, legal adulthood,” Higemaru says dreamily. He pauses. “Wait. But you still have-”

“Two and a half years,” Hakatori confirms.

Higemaru slumps. He can’t…well, dating a minor isn’t exactly a trivial thing. “Does it bother you?”

“No. I’ve been an adult for years.” Hakatori sips her coffee. “It bothers you?”

“Yeah?” Higemaru says weakly. “I just – I don’t want to seem like I’m taking advantage of you!”

“Hige, right now, neither of us are adults. We didn’t start as an adult preying on a kid.” Hakatori rolls her eyes. “You’re overthinking this too much.”

“Okay, okay.” Higemaru wishes he didn’t care what people thought. Well, he’ll do his best to treat her with respect no matter what. Not that he wouldn’t anyways.

“Besides, your parents approve of me.” Hakatori wiggles her eyebrows. “Kaneki and Touka, Urie and Mutsuki, and your biological parents.”

Higemaru chokes on his coffee. “So I have three sets of parents now?”

“Yup.” Hakatori nudges her foot against his. “And, just so we’re clear, I want them as my parents, too.”

Higemaru smiles back at her, wondering how he got so lucky.

Brooke is a supporter of Higetori and finds it fun to step up little situations for them to get them together. (Higemaru is her best friend and wants him to be happy)

Brooke *would.*

Based on @koyuki-tan‘s “Peace Sign.”

– First, Brooke needs to investigate this Hakatori. Is she a good match for Higemaru? A coffee date and a girl’s night with the beta-quinx are fantastic ways to analyze this ghoul.

– Brooke will then keep meeting with Hakatori for coffee, but slip Higemaru into their conversations more and more.

– Brooke then sets up a sparring session with Higemaru and Hakatori. Bikaku vs. bikaku. She makes sure to suggest Urie take Mutsuki out earlier that day, so there’s only one bikaku Quinx.

– Brooke knows she needs backup, so Saiko is informed of Higemaru’s crush. Saiko takes the lead encouraging Higemaru to ask Hakatori out, while Brooke continues to play Hige up for Hakatori.

– The moment Higemaru find the courage, Saiko texts Brooke.

– She then texts Hige to tease him mercilessly. This continues for months, until Hakatori takes his phone and teases her back just as mercilessly. It’s a duel of words, and may the best woman win.

Hakatori meets Hige’s family (like the blood relatives) and is wary of meeting humans

I just love this ship.

“Are you nervous?” Higemaru pulls Hakatori closer so he can plant a kiss on her forehead.

“A little,” she says, her cheeks coloring. “Especially…now.”

Higemaru follows her gaze to the gated mansion he’s always called home. This would be intimidating for anyone, much more a ghoul.

“I’m sorry,” he says nervously.

“It’s not you’re fault you’re rich,” she scoffs, poking his nose. “I just…I’m a destitute ex-terrorist. And a ghoul.”

“And my girlfriend. The girlfriend I love very much,” Higemaru assures her. “I’ll defend you. I mean, you can defend yourself, but I’d like to try, too.”

“I love you,” says Hakatori, shaking her head.

“I love you too,” he sings. They stride up the walkway to the door.

“Is this her?” His mother swings open the door. “Hello, dear!”

To Hakatori’s surprise, Higemom rushes outside to embrace her. “I’m so happy to meet you after all the wonderful things Hige’s told me.”

“Uh, pleasure to meet you too,” says Hakatori uncertainly.

“Come in, come in.” Higemom gestures for them to follow her.

Higedad is a tall, mustachioed man sipping whiskey in their kitchen. He nods at Hakatori. “Pleased to meet you, Tomoe.”

“Call me Hakatori,” she says, extending her hand.

“Of course; it is your nickname.” Higedad shakes her hands without batting an eye at ghoulflesh. Or her black fingernails.

“Can I get you anything to drink? We bought Rc-filled wine,” says Higemom.

“Oh, you didn’t have to.” Hakatori is shocked. They’re…so nice?

“Nonsense. You’re part of the family.” Higemom bustles around, fetching wineglasses.

“Hi.” A pretty woman emerges from the crowd of relatives to extend her hand. “I’m Higemaru’s Aunt Mitsuko.”

“Oh.” Hakatori swallows. The wife of Higemaru’s fireman uncle, the one murdered by Donato Porpora.

“It’s wonderful to see ghouls who are committed and principled like you. I know Hide’s probably told you some things about me, but please don’t think I judge you.” Aunt Mitsuko hugs Hakatori, who is too shocked to return the hug.

Higemaru grins. “See? My family’s great.”

“They are.” Hakatori’s expression grows happier.

Higemaru squeezes her hand and bends over to whisper in her ear. “Maybe someday soon they’ll be your family, too.”

Higemaru tries not to scream. Once again, he’s the helpless puppet of Donato Porpora.

Only this time, he did it for her. For Hakatori. He shoved her out of the Priest’s way, and now Donato has him on his knees.

“Hmm, shall I pick up where I left off last time?” Donato purrs.

“Urie’s not here,” Higemaru mutters.

“Yes, he’s not here to turn full ghoul and save you. Hypocrites.” Donato’s eyes flash. “Urie’s father cost me my son. So I can take his son’s son. Of a sort.”

Not again. Higemaru flinches as Donato’s hands tighten on his shoulder.

“The fuck?” Hakatori holds her quinques aloft, along with her bikaku. CCG and ghouls alike assemble behind her. The entire team sent to take down the Priest, save one.

“He’s my friend. Let him go.”

Donato chuckles. “You’re an interesting one. The Bin brothers’ protege, correct? I like you.”

“Thank you,” Hakatori says patiently. “Now release my friend.”

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t do that.”

Hakatori rolls her eyes. “Pretty sure you can.”

“He’s a pretty thing. Do you like him?” Donato asks.

Hakatori starts. Well, why not? “He’s my boyfriend.”

“What?” shouts a CCG member. Another ghoul hisses. This sort of mixing – it was okay for the scientist and the ghoul, and the half-ghoul Kaneki and his wife, people with questionable loyalties at best, but a Quinx and an Aogiri member?

“Yes, a Quinx and a ghoul are dating, get over it,” Hakatori says irritably.

“Hmm, now I’m almost curious who will kill him first, them or me,” Donato muses.

“We could always not kill?” suggests Higemaru. A shadow falls on them.

Donato spins around as a kakuja slams into him. Hakatori flies forward, swinging her quinques to remove Donato’s kagune. She then grabs Higemaru and leaps to safety.

“Hello, Father,” says Amon Koutarou. He straightens. “You’ll be arrested again. There is nothing more for you.”

Hakatori smiles down at Higemaru. “I couldn’t care less what they think.”

She leans down to kiss him.

Higemaru returns the kiss eagerly, and the rest of the Quinx clap. Even if CCG doesn’t have their back, their families do.

“Also,” says Hakatori, “if you ever push me out of the way again, I’ll tear your arm off myself.”

Higemaru blushes. “You know you loved it.”

“After you lived, sure.”

Higetori baby headcanons

It’s Higetori day! Launch the ship!

I’m setting this during “The (Mis)Adventures of Goat.”

– Higemaru first notices she seems sick to her stomach often. It’s just a comment one morning, and Hakatori conceals her nervous face as tells him not to worry. She heads to Goat stat.

– Hakatori immediately pulls Eto and Miza aside and asks them what it is like to be pregnant.

– Meanwhile, Hige already suspects. He buys her flowers and new paints for her drawings…and a test that he plans on asking her to take that evening.

– Hakatori, however, has already confirmed via a test Eto has. Because Eto’s been waiting for this.

– She comes home early with chocolate for Hige. But, she’s surprised to find Higemaru already there.

– He sees the chocolate and blurts out “You’re pregnant” and she waves the test she’s already taken around.

– He hugs her and is super excited to be a parent, though he needs her moral support to tell Urie and the rest of the Quinx (not that Mutsurie are in a place to judge).

– She’s a little more reticent, because she’s never really had parents. Higemaru’s enthusiasm soon sweeps her up, too, and they’ve planned out every detail by the time the first trimester ends.

– Higemaru’s family is very supportive, which Hakatori appreciates.

– Seidou crashes their apartment to yell at Higemaru and babble with excitement to Hakatori. He calls dibs on best uncle, thereby unintentionally starting a war with Urie, who also wanted that title. Kurona records the entire conversation and posts it online with the caption @ kanekiken get ur kids in line.

– Higemaru has to be lifted off the floor the first time he sees the ultrasound.

– She insists on dueling Higemaru even in her ninth month to “stay in shape.” He finds her unbearably sexy.

– Higemaru stencils cute monsters on the walls in the baby’s room, and Hakatori draws flowers in their hands.

– Their daughter has Higemaru’s moles and Hakatori’s dark hair. Her name is Sumire, because violet is the color you’d get if you mixed Higemaru’s pink lemonade and Hakatori’s gothic blueberry aesthetic.

Higetori first time headcanons.

– They start with an intense cuddling session. Like, they cuddle each other so tight they bruise.

– Hakatori dares to initiate by giving Hige hickeys to go with the bruises.

– From there, Higemaru is like putty in her hands. Neither of them have experience, so they’re a bit awkward but excited.

– Higemaru makes sure to use a condom, because Urie has already given him that talk.

– Higemaru basically worships Hakatori’s body. He also gets very flustered as soon as he sees her naked. Words fail him. He’s in awe. Here’s a ghoul he would have considered an enemy not long ago, and now he knows she’s the most incredible person ever.

– Hakatori’s teasing him the entire time. Verbally and physically. She adores this boy she would have slaughtered if she fought him on Rue. She’s very glad she didn’t.

– Higemaru is on the bottom. Hakatori definitely takes the lead. She loves stroking his bare chest.

– Higemaru loves her hips.

– They probably try it multiple times that night.

– They snuggle together afterwards and talk about everything they can think of. They fall asleep in each other’s arms.

Hakatori gets to know the Qs. Higetori.

“Hi.” Hakatori waves at the Quinx, who are gathered in the living room to the Chateau. Plus Kaneki Ken and Touka Kirishima. “Well, I know you two already.”

“But you don’t know meeeeeee.” Saiko rolls over to her. “Hi, I’m Saiko, and I have an awesome rinkaku.” In less than five seconds, she has molded her kagune into a skeleton.

“That’s amazing.” Hakatori gasps.

“I’m Hsaio.” A dark-haired girl smiles tentatively at her.

“The half-human.” Hakatori nods.

“I’m Aura.” A figure half-waves from the corner.

“He’s a grumps,” Higemaru whispers. She giggles.

“What’d you say?” Aura demands.

“Nothing untrue,” Hakatori replies with a gleam in her eyes.

“We’ve kinda met.” Mutsuki waves from the couch, where he snuggles against Urie.

“Well, I got to take on at least one Quinx bikaku now.” Hakatori grins at Higemaru. “But I’m always up for another.”

Mutsuki snorts. “I can mold mine too.”

“Wait, really? Teach me!” She looks thrilled. “Wait, teach both me and Hige.”

Higemaru grins. “We’ll be the bikaku terrors.”

“I’m already terrified,” Urie mutters as Higemaru pecks Hakatori on the lips in front of them all.

“Let’s spar together!” Higemaru wraps his arms around Hakatori. “Please?”

“If only to get you two off each other,” Touka teases.

“I can handle it.” Mutsuki waves his hand. “Saiko, help me teach them the art of kagune manipulation.”

At the end of the day, Hakatori has pinned Urie to the floor, Touka has Aura on his knees, Hsaio, Higemaru, and Mutsuki are at a standstill, and Kaneki has given up against Saiko, because she made her kagune into Haise Sasaki and he can’t stop laughing.

“Your family is wonderful,” Hakatori says, leaning over to whisper in Higemaru’s ear.

Takizawa finds out Hakatori is dating Higemaru.

Higemaru strolls into his room, whistling to himself after a happy date night with Hakatori. They went to a movie – a horror one they both enjoyed – and held hands. He’s never held someone’s hand before. Much less a badass, former terrorist ghoul’s.

Maybe he’s in love. Higemaru dares to believe it.

The door shuts behind him. Frowning, Higemaru turns around.

“Oh hey, there, pal.” A clocked, hunchbacked figure lifts its head. Takizawa Seidou giggles at Higemaru’s shock.

“Hi?” Higemaru knows Mado Akira is good friends with the Owl, and that Takizawa played an important role in starting this new ghoul-and-human world they’re developing. Still, he’s disconcerting to look at.

“I heard you’re dating my friend.” Takizawa’s eyes sparkle.

“I mean, yeah, kinda.”

“Kinda?!” Takizawa hisses.

“We are! I really like her! Why?” Higemaru backs up. He’s in the Chateau. No one would actually kill him.

“Because if you hurt her, I’ll eat you.” Seidou’s eyes widen. “Nom-nom-nomity.”

“I wouldn’t, I promise. I – she’s amazing and beautiful and badass and – I am so glad I never hurt her.” Higemaru wipes his eyes.

“Hmm. That seemed sincere.” Seidou nods with approval. “Okay. I won’t skin you tonight.”

“Were you two close?”

“I was like her older brother in Aogiri. She was never scared of me.” Seidou smiles wistfully. “She’s special. Treat her well.”

“Did you like her?” Higemaru swallows.

Seidou gasps. “What part of brother don’t you understand? Oh my god, what is wrong with you? I take it back. She’s not dating a pervert!” He howls. “Urie, come collect your man!”

Urie opens their door. “How’s it going in here?”

“You know he’s here?” Higemaru rants.

“Of course. This is part of the plan to make sure I never hear scarring noises from your room in the future.”
