“Kaneki.” Hide side-eyes his best friend, and after a moment, tackles him with a kiss.
Kaneki gasps, but oh, he kisses back. Hide feels this way? Hide cares?
They stay locked at the lips for what feels like seconds, but is probably at least half an hour. Then Hide straightens and, tentatively, moves to take off his shirt.
Kaneki gasps with longing. He helps Hide lift his t-shirt and buries his face in Hide’s warm, muscular chest.
Hide reaches for Kaneki’s shirt and pulls it over his head. “Wow. You used to be so skinny.”
Kaneki blushes.
“You had to become strong. I admit you.” Hide smiles and pulls Kaneki closer for another kiss.
They lie across the floor, each one tugging down the others’ pants, until they’re both naked.
“You don’t have to be gentle,” Hide says. He gasps as their bodies unite.
“Why are you crying, Ken?” Hide winks when they’re spent and lying breathless in each other’s arms. “Just kidding, of course I know why you’re crying. You’re happy.”
“It’s been a while since I’ve cried happy tears.” Kaneki lays his head in Hide’s lap.
“I know. Rest.” Hide kisses Kaneki’s forehead.
