If Hairu was still alive. Hairu mourning the death of Shio.

image

Hairu totters closer to Kaneki Ken’s body, to the bloodstained, pale indigo head…and the pale blue one. Kaneki starts, and Hajime Hazuki laughs.

Shio.

Hairu’s first instinct is to scream, to collapse and wriggle on the ground with Kaneki. There is nothing she can do.

Ui, you were supposed to bring them back to me! Where is he?

Hairu can’t bear to look at the head, to imagine Shio’s final moments. My god, what have we done?

She’s long known Shio was innocent. If he and Squad Zero fought Hajime, they must have had a reason to follow Hirako rather than Ui.

Hairu feels tears in her eyes, and she’s crying, but she’s walking forward.

Hajime Hazuki feels himself lifted up by his hair. To his surprise, he sees Ihei Hairu holding her quinque at his throat.

“How would you like it?” she shouts. “Hmm? Would that make you feel good?”

She throws him to the ground. He has to know she would never.

Hajime bares his teeth.

“Did you feel powerful? Did you feel like the ghouls who murdered your parents?” Hairu laughs. “You are just like them!”

“Take that back!” screams Hajime, scrambling to his feet. For a moment, he looks like a terrified kid. Terrified like Shio was.

“Siding with traitors, are we, First Class?” Furuta sneers.

“I’m siding with my family! With Arima and Rikai and Shio!” Hairu fires T-human at Furuta, and in the chaos grabs Kaneki. She flees, far, far away from Shio’s head, as if outrunning him will undo the past.

“Where do we go?” Was this how Hirako felt when he fled? Where is Hirako, anyway? “I’m not letting you die, Ken.”

Because this is how Ihei Hairu mourns, with tears and firepower. She will honor Shio’s legacy and protect the one he fought for.

I need some tender moments between my four boys Yusa, Shio, Rikai, And Hajime.

Don’t we all.

“Hajime, why do you hate us? I thought we were friends. Remember Capture the Flag?” Shio’s lips tremble.

“You saved our team because you ran so fast Mayazumi and I couldn’t catch you,” Yusa recalls.

Hajime’s eyes twinkle. He might be chained up like a ghoul, and they might be traitors, but yes, he remembers.

“I wish you didn’t hate us,” adds Rikai.

“Then why do you hate us enough to side with ghouls?” Hajime’s eyes harden. “Just because you never watched your parents die in front of you, are you incapable of siding with your own kind?”

“You’re not even our own kind anymore,” Yusa protests.

“We’re closer to you, though.” Rikai’s heart thumps. She hopes Hajime listens.

“Huh?”

“We’re part ghoul,” Shio says sadly. “We’re all children of Tsuneyoshi Washuu. He was a ghoul and we’re his failed experiments.”

“That’s a fucking joke.” Hajime scoffs.

“It’s not.” Shio’s eyes fill with tears. “Furuta is playing you. Arima knew. He wanted to save us, so Hirako defected.”

“I don’t believe you.” Hajime shrieks. “Go away!”

“We can’t! We have to face ourselves!” Yusa screams suddenly. “You will, too!”

“No!” Hajime screams back. He can’t. He can’t even face what happened to Mom and Dad.

Rikai sniffles, but she reaches through the chains to embrace him. “Hajime, I miss you.”

“We all did. We miss all the academy.” Shio wipes his eyes. “We miss not killing too.”

“I don’t.” Hajime shrugs.

“We like you,” Yusa says. “We wish you would be in our family. All part ghouls with Washuu Rc cells in them.”

“Washuu?”

“Your kagune is from a ghoul of the Washuu clan,” Yusa explains. “Guess we’re like family, then.”

Hajime doesn’t know what to say or do, but for a minute, he thinks Mom and Dad would approve of these brothers and sister. He no longer resents their hugs, and tilts his chin to rest on Rikai’s shoulder.

“One does not just simply walk into GOAT’s layer,” Shio lectures Hajime.

“What the fuck, kid?”

“You can’t be undermine by your own youth if you insult me over mine.” Shio points to his head with a smirk.

“Are you meming me?” Hajime is aghast.

“Shio!” Hirako, Yusa, and Rikai burst into the cell. “What on earth are you doing.

Shio holds his hands out. “Memes.”

“I have discovered memes, and I must use them!” cries Shio. “Hajime knows they’re the best. Yusa, Rikai; you must know the beauty.”

“Look!” He holds out picture’s he’s saved on his phone.

“I hate you,” mutters Hajime.

“Shio, that’s enough.”

“He can make memes of us too,” Shio pleads. “Hirako, these are the best way to communicate ever.”

Hajime snatches Shio’s phone, which of course has no service. In two seconds he displays his own meme.

“Yesssss!” Shio giggles, and Hirako groans.

@hamliet

“Come on, Special Class Ui.” Hajime snickers.

“Squad Zero’s meme game is nothing to laugh at,” Ui snaps.

Hajime holds up the phone he stole from Shio.

“Yusa, your turn,” Hirako hands him the phone.

He protec but he also attack,” says Yusa.

“That’s not how you meme,” lectures Ui. “You need pictures!”

“Understood, sir. I will correct.” Yusa draws a deep breath.

“I won’t give you the time.” Ui holds up a meme.

“Haha, Squad Zero has weak memes!” taunts Hajime.

“Oh yeah?” Shio holds up Hirako’s tablet.

“Shio!” screams Rikai.

“Here we gooooooooooooooo.”

Ui gasps. “Take that back!”

“No.” Rikai scowls.

“Shio, you’re fighting Ui instead of Hajime. Hajime is is a meme master. Fight him like one,” Hirako says.

Hajime holds up the phone.

Squad Zero huddles for a moment, then emerges with their meme.

“Huh?” says Ui.

“Oh, you didn’t know Arima and Hairu and Furuta are all part ghoul?” Hirako blinks. “Sit down, young ones, and listen to our story.”

Can you write something fluffy with Fruit having a little sister? Mischievous like him but will literally maim anybody who talks shit about her big brother. Just some happy time, Furuta needs happiness (if you don’t write ocs it’s cool, i was just asking! Also, very goodjob with the blog so far, lovely!)

soutasnotebook:

Thank you so much, Nonny-Mouse! I absolutely ADORE OC’s, so I’m happy to give Fruit a little sis!

“I don’t like you.” Urie looks down to see a pretty girl with glossy black hair and pale skin glaring at him.

“Excuse me?”

Her fingers curl into a fist. “You called the director a piece of shit! Take it back.”

Urie cannot believe a child is trying to fight him. This fangirl can’t be older than fourteen. “No.”

The girl knees him between his thighs.

“Ah!” Urie doubles over.

“Thanks for the cookies.” She waves the package Suzuya gave him. “I’ll take these as payment.”

“Get back here, brat!”

She runs away, and Urie decides to let her go. One fangirl isn’t worth his time.

But when he storms into Furuta’s office later to find the same girl hanging onto Furuta’s shoulders, he finds himself rethinking that decision. Just a smidge.

“The fuck?”

“I’ll prefer you not to use vulgarities around my sister.” Furuta – Kichimura Washuu he is not – sniffs.

Urie’s mouth falls open. “That’s your sister?”

The girl winks at him and holds up bunny ears behind Furuta. So she knows no loyalties, then. Must run in the family.

“This is Tsubaki. Tsubaki, First Class Urie Kuki.” Furuta chuckles as she reaches over to tickle him.

“I’ll leave you two, then. It can wait.” Urie backs out. With Tsubaki, the director looks human

“I love you, big bro.” Tsubaki kissed his cheek.

“You realize V is going to be pissed you escaped, right?” Furuta sings.

“Don’t use such vulgarities,” she mimics.

He narrows his eyes, and she narrows hers right back.

“Besides, I was only doing what you did, ‘member?” Tsubaki laughs. “I want you to introduce me to the Oggai. That Squad leader with the blueish hair is cute.”

“No sister of mine is dating a ghoul.” Furuta is appalled. The Oggai must die. Tsubaki must live.

“You wanted to date a ghoul yourself,” she throws back. “Come on, big brother. Don’t you love me?”

Her puppy-dog eyes – the eyes he taught her – ache his heart. “Oh, all right.”

“Yesss!” she cheers. “When I grow up, Souta, I want to be just like you.”

Furuta wants the exact opposite. For a moment, he wants to tell her everything, but why ruin the one person who loves him?

He settles for hugging her instead.

@hamliet Your request is my command.

“What do you mean, Hajime’s been captured?” Tsubaki recalls Hajime Hazuki breaking up with her just days ago. “What’s going on?!”

“It’s part of a mission” Mayazumi assures her. “He really likes you.”

“Just his job more.” Tsubaki scowls. “Where is he?”

“I can’t tell you.”

Tsubaki flutters her lashes. “Are you sure?”

——————————————————–

“Kaneki!” Tsukiyama Shuu races into the king’s bedroom.

“What?!” Kaneki sits up, his chest bare. Beside him, Touka glowers at Tsukiyama.

Heat flies to Tsukiyama’s face. “Mr. Slaughter has a visitor who apparently snuck through the drainage pipes.”

When Kaneki enters Hajime’s cell, he sees a younger, female Furuta next to the Oggai.

“Kaneki! You’re Kaneki, right?” The girl gasps.

“Who are you?” Kaneki is terrified.

“I’m Furuta Tsubaki. You’ve chained up my boyfriend and I don’t agree with that decision.” She shrugs. “So free him or chain me up, too.”

“No!”

“Yes!”

“Tsubaki.” Hajime swallows the lump in his throat. He thought he was worthless, but she broke through ghoul territory to reach him. “It’s okay.”

“Don’t give me that nonsense.” Tsubaki flops backwards. “Besides, we all know my brother’s just trying to provoke you into becoming Public Enemy Number One, King Kaneki. Take me captive and use me so he doesn’t self-destruct.”

“I don’t think I like this plan,” Touka murmurs.

“I don’t trust her,” says Kaneki.

“I like her,” asserts Tsukiyama.

“Of course you do,” Hajime sneers. Tsukiyama nods eagerly.

—————————————-

Furuta recieves the phone call he’s been dreading since Tsubaki vanished.

“Hi big brother.”

“Where are you?!” he growls.

“Uh, with GOAT? And Hajime? I’m their captive so you don’t try to kill them or yourself.”

Furuta’s mind spins. Has he taught her too well? “There’s no way.”

“Oh, but there is.” Tsubaki grins. There’s no way Souta’s tragedy can occur now.

I think Hajime needs some friends. Maybe a fun day with the zero squad kids?

Our boy needs serious friendship. And possibly a time-out.

Hajime kicks a stone. It skitters across the street only to be trampled by some unfortunate’s tires. Good.

“Hajime!”

Three kids he knew from the academy race up to him.

“Squad Zero.” Hajime frowns. “What do you want?”

He’s gonna be a ghoul soon. Partially. He can avenge Mom and Dad. It’ll be great.

He just hopes he’s not betraying them.

“Fun!” Shio stomps his feet.

“How are you?” Rikai smiles at him. Hajime is cute, though he can’t see it.

“Wishing I could be an investigator already. I wanna stop these ghouls.” He grins, then hesitates. “I’m sorry about Ihei Hairu.”

“Me too,” says Yusa, staring at the ground.

“Well. You should come out with us, then. Are you free this afternoon? Of course you are.” Shio tugs Hajime down the street. “Lots of investigators feel bad, so they give us candy or money. We’re gonna go eat hamburgers and the feast on the candy.”

Hajime hasn’t had candy in a long time. What if this is his only chance? Will his taste change after the surgery? He licks his lips. “Okay.”

“Hurrah!” Shio cheers, and Yusa hugs him.

“No mushy stuff!” Hajime yells.

“Oh, stop being such a turd.” Rikai opens the restaurant door. The smell of fresh burgers incites her stomach to growl.

“Are you happy as investigators?” Hajime asks, once they’re seated and drinking soda. He loves soda. Mom and Dad use to reward him with soda whenever he did good in school.

“Yes,” says Shio.

Yusa shrugs. “It’s okay.”

“I wish we didn’t have to kill,” says Rikai, and Shio’s face falls.

“So none of you are.” Hajime’s long since kissed happiness goodbye, but it still hurts. A life without happiness.

“We love our teachers.” Shio’s eyes mist over.

“I’m sorry.” Hajime remembers what it’s like to lose those you love. Maybe he’ll spend his Oggai money not on weapons, but – well at least partially – on more candy for his friends.

Please give Hajime Hazuki some love and some friends.

My bitter murder child needs some serious love. Doctor’s orders.

Hajime tries to bite Hirako, because he’s part ghoul and loves the irony, but a blow from Rikai knocks him back.

“Ghoul,” snaps Shio, locking cuffs onto him.

He can see Mom being eaten, Dad screaming for them to kill him instead. He’s running for the window again.

“So are you!” Hajime screeches. “So are you! All of you – except Hirako! At least I’m gonna stop you all! Fuck you!”

He screams and screams as they tighten the restraints, cutting off his circulation. Hirako searches his body and yanks the tracker out from his tongue.

Hirako tries to herd Squad 0 away, but Yusa hesitates. “He’s really upset.”

The door bursts open, and SS-Yotsume stands there, her emo boyfriend at her side.

“Hajime Hazuki.” Hinami steps forward.

“Fuck you, ghoul.”

“No, that’s Ayato’s job,” Hinami says sweetly. Ayato chokes, but he made a vow of silence in exchange for accompanying her, and he’ll stick to it if it’s the last thing he does. It might be.

“Huh?” Hajime looks confused.

“Never mind!” Hirako says quickly.

Hinami sits across from Hajime. After a moment, Shio joins her, followed by Yusa and Rikai. With a sigh, Hirako finds himself sitting besides Hajime.

“We like you,” Hinami says. “Well, I do. I know what it’s like to have your parents killed.”

“Do you? Do you know what it’s like to watch them cut off your mom’s head?” shrieks Hajime.

“Yes,” she replies calmly.

“Well, she deserved it.” He scowls.

“She was a pacifist. She only at corpses. We all did.” Hinami pauses. “But I joined Aogiri for revenge anyway.”

————————————————————————-

Hajime isn’t sure why she keeps visiting him, but after a few days, he begins to realize he likes her company. She’s kind, and she’s always accompanied by Squad 0, who cheekily remind him of their adventures in the academy.

But it’s Hirako’s pat on the head one day that precipitates his tears.

“You know you’re a good kid, right? Despite the cursing?”

He’s not a good kid. If he was, Mom and Dad wouldn’t have died, right?

Hinami embraces him, and soon Squad 0 has cocooned him in a hug.

“Do not be afraid, Hajime.” Hinami nods. “At GOAT, you are loved.”

The mutsurie anon is back :’) mucchan invites urie for dinner on his new house w the oggais and the children notice urie is not only just a former team mate

Mutsurie Nonny-Mouse is always welcome. 😀

“Why do I have to cook,” grumbles Hajime Hazuki.

“Because Urie used to be our Squad Leader, is a brilliant investigator, and we want to impress him.” Aura Shinsanpei pokes his shoulder.

“Don’t touch me,” grumbles Hajime.

“Am I doing well?” Mayazumi has been slicing up fish with more care than he usually slices up ghouls, and honestly he kinda prefers this.

“Yes,” Mutsuki assures him. In another life, he would have been a good parent. But there’s no chance of that now.

The doorbell rings, and Mutsuki squeaks. “He’s early!”

“He’s Urie,” Aura replies.

When Urie appears in the kitchen, Hajime is disappointed with how predictably stiff this First-Class Investigator is. But Mayazumi smells a chance for mischief.

“Hi.” Urie waves at the Oggai. He’s trying, for Mucchan. He just wishes he could have these kids with Mutsuki.

Mutsuki beams at him, longing for approval. “How was your day?”

That’s it? We’re really talking about our days? Urie clears his throat. “Fine. Another day of listening to the director’s shenanigans.”

“He does have a lot of crazy ideas,” Mutsuki admits. He worries what that means for Sensei.

Urie’s hand twitches, like he wants to take Mutsuki’s, and Mayazumi’s eyes narrow.

The kids serve them dinner and keep the conversation flowing at dinner, but every so often, they catch Urie staring at Mutsuki. Hell, even Aura notices.

It’s noticing that Aura has noticed that propels Hajime to open his mouth.

“Okay, what’s up with you two?”

“Huh?” Mutsuki frowns.

Urie’s face looks like a tomato.

“He’s making mooney-eyes over you,” sings another Oggai.

“He’s my friend!” mutters Urie.

“Sure, and Ihei Hairu was Ui Koori’s friend,” says Mayazumi sarcastically.

“Ar they always like this?” Urie turns to Mutsuki desperately. No, no, no, these kids aren’t blowing his secret.

“Uh.” Mutsuki is embarrassed by their behavior. Urie could never love him.

“Aura! I’m behaving normal, right?” Urie points down the table.

“If normal means moon-eyes at Mutsuki,” says Hajime.

“It does,” Aura confirms, clamoring to his feet. “Now, who wants dessert?”

Mutsuki stares at Urie, who’s covering his blushing cheeks – until two Oggai wrestle his hands away.

“Confess!” chirps Hajime.

“Wait – wait, do you really?” Mutsuki is scared. He likes Urie, and Urie knows he loves Sasaki.

Urie also makes him feel safe. Urie can be trusted, even more than Sasaki.

“Oh my god, they’re both blushing!” cheers Hajime. “Mucchan likes him too!”

The Oggai shove Mutsuki and Urie closer together. “Now kiss!”

“Can’t we talk first?” shrieks Mutsuki.

Urie looks frightened. He did not intend his secret to leak.

“How long?” Mutsuki dares to ask.

“The auction.” Urie surmises that lying is pointless. “I – I hope this doesn’t ruin anything; I would never upset you.”

Mutsuki feels as though a window has opened, a window he hadn’t seen before. Jumping in may not be wise, but he isn’t wise.

He wants Urie to kiss him, so he kisses him first.

Yomo finds out just how involved Uta is in all of this.

My boy Yomo better live so this can happen. *falls on face, prays to Ishida*

Uta lounges in HySy Studio, sketching designs for another mask. This one is inspired by dragons, or whatever chaos that runt Souta has planned.

No one will wear it. That’s okay.

He slips on his No-Face mask and dances around the studio. So much fun.

Until someone’s fist blasts him into the wall.

Uta leaps to his feet, barely bruised – and sees a livid Yomo there, flanked by Touka Kirishima, some sassy middle-schooler, and … Suzuya Juuzou?

He laughs. “To what do I owe this motley visit?”

“Being a two-faced bastard,” Touka shoots back.

Yomo steps forward, clenching and unclenching his fist. “Is it true?”

“What? Is what true?” Uta bats his eyes.

“Don’t do that.” Yomo’s voice is strained. He curses. “I knew you were a Clown, but…”

“You impersonated Mr. Shinohara.” Suzuya looks like he wants to cry.

“You’re working with our big leader,” sings the middle schooler. He has a tongue piercing, and that alone warms him to Uta.

Uta sniffs. “You’re a half-ghoul.”

“No, I’m an Oggai, shithead,” says the kid. “Want to know what happened? Here we were, slaughtering the ghouls in the 24th ward – our leader really took a shine to slicing up your Yomo –”

“When Kuki Urie and the Quinx Squad arrived to tell us we were all being played by ghouls like Nimura Furuta. So we struck a truce. I didn’t like Furuta anyway.” Suzuya crosses his arms. “And I don’t like you.”

“And I remembered you!” The kid giggles. “So now we’re confronting you. Ain’t life a bitch?”

“Please stop swearing,” Yomo says automatically.

Uta chuckles. “You never change, Yomo.”

“Did you? Or were you always this cruel?” Yomo steps forward. He could have died today. The two rogue Quinxes are currently imprisoned with half the rebellious Oggai, but if the lead Quinx hadn’t arrived – he’d be dead. Would Uta care?

“I’m lonely.” Uta smiles at him and shrugs. “So what are you gonna do? Kill me? Torture me? You won’t get far.”

“Don’t you care?” Yomo bellows. “Touka nearly lost her baby! I nearly died! Don’t you feel anything at all?”

He shoves Uta against the wall. His eyes blaze. “What is wrong with you?!”

At his touch, Uta blinks back the image of Yomo’s head rolling along the tunnels of the 24th ward. It’s distinctly unpleasant.

“I – I don’t know,” he whispers. Wait, Touka is pregnant?

“Well, you’ll have time to figure it out, because we’re arresting you.” Suzuya beams at him.

Yomo turns away, and everything in Uta screams for him to look back.

After Furuta and the CCG go down, Hajime, Mayuzumi, and the other Oggai have to be dealt with. Which is to say, Goat should try to rehabilitate them, since they won’t be expecting that.

I’m like 95% sure most of the Oggai are getting out of this alive. Hopefully Ishida agrees.

Hajime stares at the carnage before them. Today they’ve lost Furuta and Kanou, the closest two they’ve had to a father, and now they’re public enemies number one. Human experiments. Abominations.

“Doesn’t matter. We were made to die, right?” Mayazumi laughs. Hollow laughter.

“You know you’re screaming inside,” Hajime mutters. But he’s not ready to go down without a fight. If they try to exterminate them – and they will – he’ll make sure some of them die, too.

Someone taps his shoulder, and he looks up to see the One Eyed King himself, Kaneki Ken. He’s backed by Kirishima Touka, Hirako Take, those bratty Squad 0 kids, and Ui Koori.

“Hi,” Kaneki says.

“Remember me?” A tall, dark-haired man Hajime doesn’t recognize appears behind the rest of them.

“No?” He grins. “Are you an executioner?”

“I’m Amon Koutarou. I was there the day you came into CCG.” The man lowers his eyes. “Kids like you were why I stayed with CCG so long.”

“Sucks to suck,” Hajime replies.

Amon crouches down to his level. “Yeah, it does. It especially sucks to have your family killed by ghouls. To have them take everything from you.” He swallows. “And yet, they gave me back my life. They gave you your powers – which are pretty spectacular, by the way.”

“What are you saying?” Mayazume crosses his arms.

“Get to the point,” Hajime says.

“Would you Oggai like to live with me and Mado Akira? Since we know best what you’re going through?”

Hajime laughs. “You’re fucking kidding me, right? When are you gonna kill us?”

“Never,” Kaneki says, exchanging glances with Amon. “We want to help you. We like you.”

“No, you don’t,” Mayazumi says.

“You can’t.” Hajime scowls.

“Try me.” Amon smiles wryly as he holds out his hand. “I know a thing or two about handling lots of kids. So try all of us. Try life a little longer.”

“I’ll kill you if you’re lying.” But Hajime grabs his hand all the same. What else can he do?
