Once again, in the tradition of formulating asks based on my weird-ass dreams… If the LGBTQ+ couples in TG could biologically have their own children, do you think they would? If so, why? If not, why? What kind of issues do you think they might face — mental health complications, societal stigmatization, etc — no matter what they chose? What pros and cons do you think there might be to having this option, along with adoption and/or surrogacy/sperm donation?

Oh my I love this ask! Your weird-ass dreams give creative results. ❤

Couples:

Hidekane

– Kids are certain. Hide loves children. And screw societal expectations. If people can accept ghouls, they can accept gays.

– Kaneki would be more hesitant, but probably find healing in raising children better than he was raised.

Shuuneki

– Honestly, I’m unsure. Shuu might want to carry on the family, but be hesitant, as he’s not the best at recognizing.

– Kaneki might actually persuade him to have kids eventually.

– Their status as rich and famous probably protects them.

Mutsurie

– Urie would lean yes after settling down. Mutsuki might lean no, because he’s scared he’ll lose control. Plus, he’s afraid of more dysphoria.

– Urie might suggest adoption, but he makes it clear he’d prefer Mucchy to kids if Mutsuki is a hard no.

– After some time with Ichika and the Nakimiza brood, Mutsuki might want kids after all.

Hsaiko

– Hsaio is worried about her own health and living long enough to see the child grow up. Then there’s adoption, or IVF, and Hsaio’s already messy genetics…

– Saiko doesn’t want kids without Hsaio.

– Ultimately, I see them relishing the role of crazy aunts but not having children of their own.

Suzuhan

– Hanbee sobs at the idea. He loves kids.

– Suzuya is afraid his kids will reject him. But ultimately, he wants to be a “Shinohara” to other kids.

– They will adopt/foster all the kids of Tokyo with behavior and mental health issues. They’ll enroll them at TSC academy if possible. Give each kid a mentor and therapy. It’ll be great.

Houji/Tatara

– Oh hell no. Tatara ain’t the parent type.

– Houji occasionally brings it up only for Tatara to insist it will never happen.

– Until Houji comes home to the newest misfit ghoul Tatara’s taken in. He won’t let Tatara live it down.

Maruchika

– They would love to grandparent any kids Matsuri has, but he’s not gonna make it easy for the old couple (they’re not, but that’s what Matsuri calls them).

– Between managing TSC and dealing with their own issues (especially Chika’s internalized Washuu homophobia), they focus on being surrogate fun uncles for any and all children who cross their paths.

Utaren

– Yomo dreams of kids, but he also wants to focus on Ichika and whomever Ayahina have.

– Plus, there’s Uta. Uta, a dad? Renji is concerned.

– Fortunately, Uta has a back-up plan: an overload of KITTENS.
