“Wait, are you actually taking care of me?” Her lover laughs as she helps him out of the car. 

“Of course. What else can I do? You’re all banged up,” Eto snaps, shuffling him towards his apartment. He’s not tall, but he still towers over her. 

“I love you,” he mumbles in her ear as she bends over to rummage for the keys.

“I know,” Eto says, enjoying her cleverness. Star Wars is his favorite movie. 

He pulls her tight. And then everything spins.

“Oh boy. Your medication’s kicking in.” Eto shakes her head and drags him inside. “To bed with you. I’ll turn into a kakuja and eat you if you refuse.”

“But I want you to eat me,” he protests.

“Oh, I will later.” She winks slyly and leads him into his bedroom. “Right now, sleep.” 

“Wait.” He dutifully lies down, but catches her arm. “Will you marry me, Eto Yoshimura?” 

Eto freezes. “Huh?”

“I’d like to do this romantically and have flowers and chocolate and candles, but I’m kinda incapacitated,” he mumbles.

“And half-delirious.” Eto nods. “Tell you what. You remember this and I will.”

“You would anyways.”

“I know.” Eto softens and kisses him on the forehead. “I won’t let you forget.”
