Hinami sits pensively on the edge of their bed.
“What’s wrong?” Ayato cracks open his eyes. She’s usually the first to rise, but she’s puttered back from the bathroom now and she’s just…sitting there.
“I waited until the best time so it would be accurate,” she says.
“What? What would be accurate? Hina?” Ayato scrambles to the edge of the bed.
He goggles at the test in her hand, at the brilliant plus sign.
“Hina?” His voice cracks.
“Ayato.” Hinami’s eyes are moist. “I…”
“You’re pregnant?” he whispers.
She nods.
Ayato grabs her in his arms. “I love you. We’re gonna be okay. We’ll get through this.”
Hinami laughs nervously. “You’re not mad?”
“I think I participated just as much in this surprise, thank you very much.” He snorts.
She blushes. “At least Touka will have a niece or nephew now.”
“Ah, and the One-Eyed Idiot, too.” Ayato’s lately called Kaneki an idiot with a surprising amount of affection that only Ayato could accomplish.
“I hope they’re not mad.”
“They can’t be mad at you. You’re a saint.” He rubs her back.
“Ayato, I’m unmarried and pregnant.”
“So? We can fix that if you want.” Ayato tosses her a grin. “You’re still a saint, Yotsume.”
