Mutsuki, redeemed, apologizes to Touka et al for what he did.

Mutsuki trembles in the back corner, afraid to approach the Queen.

Sensei’s wife.

She won, but really he won too, because Sensei is alive and the ghouls and humans are getting along, and the Quinx love him and so does Sensei.

But he still doesn’t want to face what he’s done.

Urie sees his discomfort and offers his hand.

Mutsuki takes it, hesitantly, and allows Urie to lead him up to a very pregnant Kirishima – Kaneki? – Touka.

So this is family, when your friends lead to to where you’re too scared to go. Mutsuki taps Touka on the shoulder.

She turns around. Her eyes widen slightly, but she waits.

“I’m – I’m sorry,” Mutsuki says, a tremble in his voice. “I said and did terrible things to you.”

“You have a terrible haircut yourself.” Touka winks. She leans over to hug Mutsuki, like Hinami to Akira. “You’re Ken’s family, so you’re my family too, okay?”

She pokes her stomach. “Besides, Junior’s going to need many uncles.”

Mutsuki smiles nervously. “You’d want me to be an Uncle?”

“Both of you!” Touka nods at Urie. “That good with you?”

“Absolutely,” Urie says, a catch in his voice.

Mutsuki tries to quell fears that he’ll dissociate and dissect the baby. “Um – wow. Thank you.”

“Mutsuki. You’re okay. Really. It’s not easy to face your past.” Touka sighs.

“Thank you.” Mutsuki’s eyes fill with tears. She’s being so kind, and he doesn’t deserve it. “I wish I could take it back.”

“I know. Ken knows, too.” Touka smiles.

“We all know. We all love you,” Urie assures him.

Mutsuki takes a shuddery breath. He’s never known a home, but perhaps one feels like this.
