Koori Ui has never wished for ghouls before, but in this train, he wonders if maybe humanity couldn’t use some thinning out.
Well, not really. But he needs air.
“Isn’t this fun?” Hairu lets go of the pole and tries to balance as the train rounds a corner.
“Ooh!” She flies straight into Ui’s chest, sending him tumbling backwards through the swarm of people.
“I’m sorry!” Hairu reaches out her hand to haul him back up. The train jostles her closer to him. She smiles up at his eyes. “Hi.”
“Hi.” Ui likes her holding onto him. He wishes he could hold onto her without falling, but someone needs to keep them upright.
More people pile on.
“You can kiss me.”
Ui shrieks. “What?”
“You’re giving me the fairy-tale look again. So if you want to kiss me, you can. I won’t transform into a handsome prince, but I can make it fun.” Hairu wiggles her eyebrows.
“You always make it fun.”
Everyone’s hot, cranky, and desperate for oxygen. But there’s so many people, Ui and Hairu can lock lips and, without anything to hold on to, even when the train tries its best to throw them down, they stay upright.
